My mother, Georgia Condes, is one of the most supportive mothers I’ve ever known, even with all the Grecian drama which can go with the territory. Yes, Georgia is Greek, and our favorite drama queen can be very entertaining at times. Seriously, though, she has always expressed her loving ways towards my partner, Johnny, since we started dating in the early 1980s. Johnny calls her “mom” and Georgia refers to him as “son.” She looks after us in a protective way and defends us whenever she has to. With her, it’s all about sharing and having a good time. We love her very much and would like to see her get the spotlight that she so richly deserves. Oh, and please run this in the March issue, if possible, because it’s her birthday month.

David and Johnny say that they’re proudest of Georgia’s wisdom, her open-mindedness and her thoughtfulness. “We’re very fortunate that she’s our mom,” they say, “and we wish that everyone could be so lucky.” Georgia says that she suspected David was gay, but when he told her, she didn’t even have to think twice before embracing him wholeheartedly. “He’s my son. He’s my baby. He’s David,” she says. “I love him and am very proud of him in every way.” She feels that way about Johnny, too, and thinks of him as her son. “They have both taught me so many things, and I appreciate them so much. I come from a big Greek family, and they all love those boys,” she says. “I’m a big part of David and Johnny’s lives, but more importantly, they’re a big part of mine.” Here’s to a lovely and loving mother whose beautiful example has touched so many lives.
