71

As the signature count on Washington’s Referendum 71 reaches the halfway point, the error rate's continued increase signals a likely death for the ballot measure. Still, organizers of the anti-gay proposal seeking to overturn WA's recently-expanded domestic partnership protections aren’t giving up. Instead, the homophobes are calling on followers to pray the error rate away and bless Secretary of State Sam Reed with "integrity" so that he may "count in a fair and honest way."

In the same email asking Christians to invoke the power of god into the political process, 71 organizers claim that Reed is a supporter of the "homosexual agenda," whatever that is.

As a commenter on Seattle pi cleverly notes, what happens when the prayers go unanswered, and equality prevails? Will the homophobes finally believe that god is on team NOH8?

Let 'em pray... and they'll realize if there is a God, he's a fair and just one.

When will people realize that praying for inequality is not something any righteous God is going to endorse or answer to.

Wednesday was a great boost for the spirits of the equality side, but please don't slow down on preparing for a ballot fight in November. R-71 can still easily get on the ballot. Hop over the Washington Families Standing Together (WAFST.org) and sign up to volunteer or donate or print a placard for your window or a dozen other valuable things.
