The Washington Post's Ombudsman Andrew Alexander has confirmed that 27 red necks have cancelled their subscriptions to the paper, specifically citing a front-page photo of a gay couple kissing in their reasoning.

The photo, used alongside an article commemorating the first day of the District's historic marriage equality, had sparked controversy and garnered more complaints than typical for the publication.

Alexander highlights one "concerned" (another word for homophobic) reader's email:

Ann Witty of Woodbridge wrote to say she had canceled the Post subscription she has held since the 1960s.

“I am 65 years old and I realize that the world is changing rapidly – much more rapidly than I would like it to,” she e-mailed. ...

When Roy Ashburn came out over the weekend on a California radio show yet pledged to continue voting for and going out of his way to support anti-gay legislation, it felt like there wasn't much more the disgraced state politician could say. That is, unless he had read Chuck Klosterman's (pictured) 2009 book Eating the Dinosaur, which lays out blanket statements for public people in troubled waters. One of Klosterman's soothsaying passages was dedicated to outed gay politicians who had built their careers on anti-gay beliefs. Eerie stuff.

Move over Prozac, all those with anxiety disorders need to do to feel better about themselves is watch this video every morning of Garlow attributing the passage of Prop 8 to Christian fasting to feel better about their own mental stability.

Actor Corey Haim was found dead today in the LA-area home he shared with his mother. Haim -- made a worldwide star for roles he played in popular 80s films like Lost Boys, License To Drive, Dream A Little Dream and more – is suspected of succumbing to a decades-long and very public battle with substance addiction. He was only 38 years old.

According to CNN:

Police said Corey Haim, 38, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (6:30 a.m. ET), police Sgt. Frank Albarran told CNN. The death appears to be accidental, possibly an overdose, Albarran said.

I feel like a little piece of my childhood has been taken away today…

A very likely GOP candidate to run against Obama suggested that he would very likely place his anti-marriage equality stance at the front of his campaign in 2012, if he runs. Appearing on Fox News to promote his new book, the former governor of Massachusetts gave us a good idea of the social rhetoric we can expect to hear from him should he run for White House in two years.

“I did change my view on abortion. I did not change my view on same-sex marriage.”

“But that being said, there's no question in my view but that the social issues that this country considers and that are very much in debate today are very important to the nature of America and who we are.”

“And I continue to believe very deeply, as I have in the last campaign described, that marriage must be defended. I think it's under attack. I speak at great length in the book about the importance of marriage prior to children. ...

Microsoft – which is usually progressive as far as GLBT rights are concerned – has bowed to 22 Arabic countries and will now censor what it deems “gay lifestyle” content. That’s right – visiting Algeria or Syria anytime soon and you won’t get your daily InstinctMagazine.com fix by using the corp’s Arabic Bing search engine. Site’s classified as GLBT news, dating, information or other are also now invisible to users in the nearly two dozen countries.

If that wasn’t enough to get your beautiful blood boiling, loyal readers, Microsoft users in the censorship-afflicted areas cannot search or view sexual health websites or anything for that matter that includes tags – regardless of their scientific mettle – boasting sex, the body or sexuality. ...

Sure, it's made more gay rounds than any queen did yesterday at Winter Party's Beach Party, but we simply cannot refuse the pure cuteness of this clip from the University of Rochester's a capella group, the Yellow Jackets. For this particular performance the guys did a gay twist on Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me", including the most adorable video college students have possibly ever made (which is cut to during the group's number). We may or may not have shed one or seven tears while watching.

It's apparent how much more work we have ahead of us to achieve acceptance when d-bags like the now-openly gay CA State Senator Roy Ashburn exists.

If Ashburn didn’t boil your blood before, perhaps news that the notorious anti-gay legislator came out over the weekend yet pledged to continue voting for and going out of his way to support homophobic measures will do the trick better than he did after Faces last week.

“I am gay. Those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long. It is something that is personal, and I don’t believe I felt with my heart that being gay would affect how I do my job,” Ashburn said.

When asked about going out of his way to promote and vote for measures that harm and take away rights from his own community, Ashburn responded, “I felt my duty, and I still feel this way, is to represent my constituents.”

The biggest hangover in Hollywood was made worse today by news that Florida doesn’t want films with gay characters in its state.

The Associated Press explains:

Movie and TV productions with gay characters could be ineligible for a tax credit being considered in the state House.

Current state law grants tax credits on productions considered "family friendly" - with no smoking, sex, nudity or profane language.

The proposal by Republican Rep. Stephen Precourt of Orlando would increase the credit and expand the field of disqualified productions as those that include any "exhibit or implied act" of nontraditional family values and gratuitous violence.

Precourt says he's not targeting the gay community but that shows with gay characters would not be something he'd want "to invest public dollars in."

Well the biggest holigay in Tinseltown has come to a close. Traffic is flowing again, a massive hangover has washed over the city and camping tourists have broken down their tents and returned to America’s midsection, meaning it’s the perfect time for us to review our favorite highlights from the 17-hour show.

1. A favorite dress on one of our favorite ladies

The peerless Tina Fey makes us smile on a weekly basis in ways that not even Tender Greens or gratuitous shots of Kellan Lutz can. But this exotic Michael Kors number the brainy comedienne donned on stage presented the Queen of 30 Rock in a reserved and serious manner – until she lit up the stage with Robert Downey Jr. in one of the night’s most hilarious bits.
