Which out athlete says he owns more Louboutins than his own sport’s footwear? Find out after the jump.
The London Evening Standard reports that out rugby player Gareth Thomas and shoe designer Christian Louboutin are “sole mates.” Louboutin designed a tan shoe with an embroided replica of the Welsh fullback’s tattoos. Louboutin got in touch with Thomas after he became one of the most high-profile openly gay sportsmen in the world in December 2009.
After exchanging emails, the pair met in Wales and spent the day walking around Cardiff city centre and along the coastline.
Humbled by the attention, Thomas said of meeting Louboutin, "I come down on the train to London, and I'm looking forward to seeing him, thinking of all the things I can say."
