Inspired by the flood of Eagle Scouts handing over their badges because of the Boy Scouts of America's ban on LGBT troops and leaders, 9-year old Christopher Tiner decided he too couldn't wear a badge from such an organization.

Christopher, a Cub Scout from Minot, Maine, handed over his badge entirely on his own volition.

“I didn’t like it that they were kicking people out,” he said. “I don’t think it’s fair.”

Christopher's father Scott, once a troop leader, agrees with his son's stance against the BSA. “I don’t want to have a membership card to an organization that makes it very clear that this is how they feel," said Scott.

Christopher is believed to be the first Maine-based Scout to give back his badge in protest of the BSA's homophobia.
