Aside from Team Instinct (natch), ALC organizers have named this year’s celebrity spokesrider, along with another familiar face, for the upcoming 2011 ride. Gets the deets after the jump...

We’re just 19 days away from the start of the 2011 AIDS/LifeCycle—the world’s largest fundraising event for HIV/AIDS. And joining Team Instinct and the 2,500 other riders and 600 volunteer roadies from San Francisco to L.A. will be The Biggest Loser star Cara Castronuova and Real World alum Scott Herman.

Biggest Loser trainer, boxer and world-class athlete Cara Castronuova has chosen to participate in and serve as a celebrity spokesperson for the 10th annual AIDS/LifeCycle. “For three decades we have been fighting HIV/AIDS and both the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center have been there since the earliest days, helping to lead that fight,” Cara says. “If there is one thing that boxing has taught me, it’s to never give up—and that’s also how I look at the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

ALC will actually be holding two special Ustreams—tonight and next Tuesday (both at 6:30 p.m. PST), featuring Cara. The shows will also include information for ALC participants such as fundraising 101, bike maintenance, how to pack for the ride, etc.—as well as a video testimonial from a client who benefits from the Center’s HIV/AIDS medical care services. You can check the live Ustream show broadcast here.

This year’s AIDS/LifeCycle starts on a historic date, June 5—the 30th anniversary of the first reported case of HIV/AIDS by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

Trainer, model and all-around hottie Scott Herman (of Real World Brooklyn fame and seen at the top of the post) will also be riding this year, leading his team “Scott Herman Fitness.”

“Taking on a new physical challenge is exhilarating—especially when I’m doing it to support a cause I’m so passionate about,” Scott says. “My business is all about helping people to be as healthy as possible, and that’s what I want to do by taking part in ALC, too. The ride provides much-needed funding to programs that provide medical care for people who are living with HIV as well as HIV-prevention programs that help people avoid HIV infection in the first place.”

In case you haven’t heard by now, Instinct is also involved with ALC this year, with Senior Associate Editor Jeff Katz leading a fantastic team of Instinct contributors and friends on the seven-day event. You, our very loyal and fabulous Instincters, have been wonderfully generous in supporting our fundraising efforts over the past few months—but there’s still a little time left to get involved!

If you’d like to help us as we ride to end AIDS, click over to our Team Instinct page here. Every single dollar helps and counts, so consider being an honorary rider with Instinct today!

And if you are an Instincter in or around the L.A. area, you MUST be at our final ALC fundraising extravaganza as Instinct takes over...Drag Queen Bingo! Next Tuesday. Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood. 8-10 p.m. Trips, concert tix, bragging rights and more are up for grabs. Be there!

And, of course, be sure and stay with instinctmagazine.com throughout the entire LifeCycle ride (June 5-11) as Team Instinct will be blogging live from the road with exclusive photos, video and more!
