A homophobic Muslim NYPD applicant who admitted on his 2009 application that he believes the LGBT should be arrested for existing is suing the department over discrimination.
The Brooklyn-based wannabe cop again applied in 2010 and claimed that he still hated the gays but not enough to put them in handcuffs.
The NY Post takes it from here:
“They pro forma denied him again—saying he couldn’t possibly be a police officer,” the lawyer said. “The First Amendment is very clear, saying that you can’t discriminate against someone because they have a view you do not like,” he said.
While the NYPD could take action if he acted out in an anti-gay manner, they can’t bar Doe from the force for anti-gay thoughts, the lawyer said.
Did the NYPD make the right move in refusing to hire the anti-gay bigot?
