Rep. West, who once said folks can change their orientation because it's like selecting an ice cream flavor, must no longer like the taste of the treats. After being asked about his stance on marriage equality during an appearance on CNN this morning, West said:
“I think if you poll the American people…I don’t think they’re going to bring up gay marriage as one of the top concerns. The American people are concerned about where they’re working. Let’s stay focused on the things that are critical for the American people right now and not try to create some kind of situation, you try to take me down a rabbit hole."
I don't see this as progress. He is avoiding the question, because he knows his position on the subject is not going to be popular. And he is saying people's civil rights are not important enough to deserve the federal government's attention.
