Oh dear. This is messy.
Arizona Congressional hopeful and star of the 2012 Conservative Political Action Conference, Sheriff Paul Babeu has been outed not only as a gay man, but as a gay man who allegedly threatened to have his Mexican male lover deported if he disclosed their relationship.
Well, consider it disclosed—and how!
Sheriff Babeu’s former lover, José (who isn’t giving his last name in order to protect his immigration status) is talking—a lot. Apparently the relationship that José believed was monogamous wasn’t quite as monogamous as he thought, as was revealed by Sheriff Babeu’s relatively explicit Adam4Adam.com profile.
José, posing as a prospective hook-up named “Matt,” not only got the Sheriff to send him explicit pictures (let’s just say he was holding more than his nightstick), he also got Babeu to agree to meet “Matt” at a steak house with an overnight bag in tow.
As you can imagine, that date didn’t end well.
Now to clarify, Sheriff Babeu’s sexuality isn’t the issue here, at least not for Instinct. Allegedly threatening to use your position to get your former lover deported if he “outs” you? That’s an issue.
Also the fact that Sheriff Babeu’s entire claim to fame prior to now was his tough stance on illegal immigration, all the while being partnered with someone of seemingly questionable immigration status is a whole other can of worms of which we’ll steer clear.
