Scissor Sister frontman Jake Shears didn't take too kindly to Azealia Banks' use of faggot and suicide against Perez Hilton, and decided to open up the classroom to teach the rising hip hop star a lesson.
After Azealia called Perez Hilton (who started the whole Twitter fight, let's be real) a "messy faggot" who should kill himself, Jake Shears stepped into the battle.
"Oh yeah. 'Faggot.' Totally cool. Give me a fucking break," wrote Jake. "It all about context. And right now, I'm sorry, but context is not on your side." [sic]
"Donna Summer was ostracized for a decade from words she used about her gay fans," he added, referring to Summer's alleged anti-AIDS comments that sparked a boycott from Act Up. "Too bad she didn't have twitter to recant them immediately."
GLAAD also stepped a toe into the Great Azealia-Perez War Of 2013 by releasing a statement that reads, "Our society knows that "fa**ot" is a derogatory word for gay men, and in this case it was used to attack someone in a very public altercation with hundreds of thousands of fans and young people following. It is an ugly, archaic word that was used to stigmatize a population of people who suffer high rates of violence both here in the U.S. and abroad. As far as we’ve come in this society, seeing it used by an artist many young people may look up to is painful, but even more so for those young fans, many of whom GLAAD has heard from. GLAAD has reached out to Banks’ representatives, and is working to compile stories of fans and teens who wanted to respond to the word and let others know what it feels like when they hear it."

Azealia Banks is known for her sharp tongue, but recent candid comments have crossed the line for some fans. The rising pop and fashion star has spent the morning defending herself after dropping the f-bomb in the direction of gossip blogger Perez Hilton Friday night.
The shade went down on the Twitter battlefield that both Perez and Azealia know all too well, and, unsurprisingly, it was the blogger who threw the first punch. “Some of your music is cute, but your attention-seeking ways are pathetic and hurtful. You drag while others choose to uplift!”
Hmm. Pot meet kettle, much?
Azealia, who is openly bisexual, wasn't going to let Perez's attention-seeking ways go unnoticed and fell into the troll trap.
"Whatever bitch, you tried to sign me to ur little bum ass label in ’11 with them bullsshit ass artists," Azealia tweeted back before adding, "omg u should just kill yourself… Like for real… lol what a messy faggot you are.”
It didn't take but a few moments before Azealia's fans and followers as well as Perez's fans and followers reacted harshly to the rapper's apparent slur. But Azealia stood her ground and typed a slew of tweets Friday night and Saturday morning defending herself:
A faggot is not a homosexual male. A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference…. When I said acts like I female I should’ve said acts like a c*nt.
My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language. Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol.
Really not as moved by this f word thing as u all want me to be. As a bisexual person I knew what I meant when I used that word.
And I meant what I meant when I used that word.
You human beings have bigger life problems then what I think about some played out gossip dude.....
What do you think, Instincters? Does Azealia get carte blanche to use the f-word since she's a bisexual female?
Team Azealia or Team Perez on this one?
