Late Monday the Hawaii Senate agreed on amendments to a House-approved civil unions bill thanks to a voice vote.

With a final vote now scheduled for today on the full bill, the Senate is expected to pass the legislation, sending it to Gov. Abercrombie who has promised to sign it into law. The civil unions bill will make Hawaii the seventh state that affords all of its residents, regardless of sexual-orientation, marriage-like benefits.
