Minnesota, which already bans marriage access for citizens in same-sex relationships, is now inching closer to being one-up its discriminatory homophobia as the state senate approves a constitutional ban on equlaity by 38-27 vote.

Details (who voted what) are still emerging from the unsurprising development, but from here the measure goes before the GOP-controlled house (where it is also expected to pass) and then before voters in 2012. How shocking—Republicans are once again using LGBT families as pawns to get religious wingnuts to the polls during another presidential election.
