Fred Karger carries his string of successfully petitioning states to investigate the campaign finances of the National Organization for Marriage to California, where the state's Ethics Office has announced it will jump into the matter.
The California Fair Political Practices Committee has responded to a complaint filed by Fred Karger and will investigate the $350,000 NOM secretly raised to use in the 2008 Prop 8 campaign.
The acceptance letter from the ethics office reads:
The Enforcement Division of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) has initiated an investigation into the allegations, under the jurisdiction of the FPPC, of the sworn complaint you submitted in the above referenced matter regarding National Organization for Marriage.
Karger filed the complaint in mid-May, asking that the FPPC to investigate $345,400 in hidden funds NOM raised to support Proposition 8.
