A California bill that proposes a ban on the use of reparative/"ex-gay" therapy on minors continues to move forward following its passage last month in the California Senate.

On Wednesday, the California General Assembly’s Committee on  Business, Professions And Consumer Protection approved the bill. Based on this approval the bill will now head to the full Assembly chamber.

More after the jump.

The bill, S.B. 1172 passed in the Assembly's Committee with a vote of 5 to 2.

According to ThinkProgress, the committee heard testimony from victims of ex-gay therapy.

The bill's co-sponsor, State Sen. Ted Lieu, noted that the measure “bans quackery and junk science in the form of reparative therapy.”
