GLAAD has launched a Twitter campaign to support Carrie Underwood as she faces revolt from anti-gay Christian country music (ex?) fans. Details follow.
Not everyone is applauding Carrie Underwood for coming out in unwavering support of same-sex marriage; pockets of bigoted Bible-interpreters who once considered themselves fans are adding the singer to their hate list.
Some have taken to the media to voice their anger over Carrie's Christian practice of love and tolerance, while many others have attacked the star on Twitter:
"I warned @carrieunderwood fans that their idol was going to get backlash for her support of marriage perversion and I was right! #asusual"
"@carrieunderwood Is a disgrace. Being vegan and supporting gay marriage doesn't seem very country at all."
"Another day, and a another "gospel" artist signed to "EMI" comes out supporting gay marriage.@carrieunderwood Unequally signed to the devil"
To show Carrie that most folks back her endorsement of civil rights and equality, GLAAD has launched a Twitter hashtag directed at the country star.
Suggested tweet: @carrieunderwood Thank you for standing up for marriage equality! http://bit.ly/KJhOo8 @glaad #supportcarrie #lgbt

Ok, it's underfire when the underfire is coming from a small braodcasting network that geared toward Christians of a certain denomination. I like how the guy asked the question by rephasing Underwood's comment in a negative light. What ind of values has he?

it is sad that so much judgement is cast by people who claim to be christian. as christian is the point to strive to be more christ-like. christ who was non-judgemental and said judge not least ye be judged seven fold in the kingdom of heaven. it saddens me that this day and age so man can preach that they are christian but not live it.

I'd love to tell some of these idiots how many of their precious "Christian music" artists are gay! I used to work in a place where I met (and other things) with many of them.

What does gay rights have to do with the fucking bible? Keep your bible and your controlling beliefs! We just want equal rights. Just like black people did when they had to ride the back of the bus or go in through different entrances. The same injustices are happening now and these religious freaks are the driving force behind. Open your eyes people! If Adam and Eve was real, why did they have belly buttons?

Most people get it wrong, especially non-Christians... Christians are to be tolerant of sin, this is true, we aren’t to punish people who sin as the Jews were commanded to do in the Old Testament.. However, tolerance does not mean to be in agreement with or to condone sin either.. Just as some people are forced to tolerate pain but they still try to find a remedy for the source of pain... Sins were defined by God, not Christians, as anything that goes against God's original design or original plans for mankind.. Sin literally means: "To miss the mark" and that would be God’s mark, not our opinion of it… Knowing this it's easier to understand why God deemed homosexuality as a sin, it not only goes against God’s plan for mankind as laid out in the Bible, but nature itself (for those not inclined to believe the Bible)....
What Carrie did and what she's getting rebuked for, by many in the Christian community, is to state publicly, as a Christian, that homosexuality is not a sin and that God is ok with it and she did so with absolutely no scripture to back up her opinion (Probably because there isn't any)... Nowhere in the bible are Christians told to accept, endorse or condone sin, of any kind, and to suggest that Christians remain silent while the gay community perverts marriage, when it was God who established marriage not government, is trying to rob Christians of their 1st amendment rights, moreover and more importantly, trying to stop them from spreading the word of God as Jesus commanded... If gays want to get "married", get married, there is no human-law stopping you from having a marriage ceremony, loving each other, walking hand in hand or even kissing in public… Just as there is no law forcing me to recognize your gay "marriage"... Let's keep it that way... Government has no business regulating marriage in the first place.... References to back my statements can be found in Romans 1:18-27, Matthew 19:4-6 Romans 12:9

Christians revolt against anything pro gay. It's not about who or what they are revolting against, its not about Sin or the Bible, its about a very specific disgust and hate that is taught to these people for homosexuals. God himself can come down and be like "Thats not what I meant! Love the gays" and they will revolt against him.

Bill, I don't give a damn whether you recognize my 47-year gay marriage or not, or if your religion does either. I just want, and am fighting for the same legal recognition that you have. Do I recognize your marriage? If it is as sincere and complete as mine is, then, yes I do.

Dick, I didn't get married for the approval of Man or government, I know gays are fighting for that right but for me, it was only about Love when I got married, as a sign of commitment and love between me and my wife... Why is it that gays need the definition of marriage to be changed to include them, surly it isn't so they can love or spend their lives together, or to show commitment to each other because they can do that now, there is NO LAW stopping gays from getting married, just as there is no law forcing others to accept their marriage as natural... No, forcing everyone to legally recognize their gay marriage is just another way to force Christians to accept homosexuality, as if it were just like real Marriage, but since they couldn't do it any other way, they've decided to do it under they guise of "Equality"... Tell me, if it was truly about equality, why wasn't civil unions good enough... Marriage was established by God, not government, so government doesn't have the right to change the definition of marriage and then force others to honor it, especially against their Religious beliefs...

Hey Bill,
Civil marriage IS a civil right. Religious marriage is NOT a civil right. In other words, "Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and give unto God that which is God's". I just want the same legal marriage rights that you have, nothing more, but nothing less. I am not forcing you or your fellow Christians to accept anything. In fact, it is because of people like you that I am a gay ex-Christian. The Jesus that I was taught about and grew up with is dead, and until He is ressurrected, I am never going back!! By the way, it was also about love that Bob and I got married on August 13, 1965. It was a Friday, and it was the luckiest day of my life!!
