With Chaz's dancing reducing people to tears (in a good way), Governor Brown signing transgender rights bills into law and now a transgender member of Parliament, we'd say this was a great week for transgender equality! After the jump find out which country proves that gender identity does not affect one's ability to lead.
Three cheers for Poland as Anna Grodzka has become Poland's first openly transgender parliamentarian, and the only openly transgender parliamentarian in the world!
Warsaw Business Journal reports that Grodzka, who transitioned last year, secured a place in the Sejm, the nation's lower house of parliament by receiving 19,541 votes from the Kraków II electoral district.
"Today, Poland is changing. I am the proof along with Robert Biedron, a homosexual and the head of an anti-homophobia campaign who ran for office in Gdynia," Grodzka said.
Poland...and the world, Anna!
