In case you thought the recent rash of regulation in women’s reproductive health had nothing to do with the gays, Democratic female lawmakers are going out of their way to remind you.
Sigh. It’s all fun in games until a digital rectal exam is required for Viagra….
Details after the jump.
Democratic legislators in six states have proposed bills to shine a light on the outrageous regulation of female reproductive health in the US.
Government leadership is male by a vast majority and they seem to have no issue drafting laws that limit a woman’s access to birth control, but would they be so willing to pass laws denying men access to vasectomies? Viagra?
We’re guessing not and these female legislators are betting on the same thing.
Here’s one our favorite proposed bills, reported by NPR: “Ohio State Sen. Nina Turner recently put forward legislation that would require men seeking drugs like Viagra to first get a cardiac stress test to ensure their heart is ready for sexual activity. Oh, and they would also have to obtain certification from one of their recent sexual partners that they are indeed experiencing problems with erectile dysfunction. And they would be required to see a sex therapist before getting a prescription."
According to the bill: "The physician shall ensure that the sessions include information on nonpharmaceutical treatments for erectile dysfunction, including sexual counseling and resources for patients to pursue celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice."
Obviously the Ohio bill stands no chance of passing, but this is pretty brilliant. So is Georgia's House Bill 1116, which would outlaw vasectomies and states: "Thousands of children are deprived of birth in this state every year because of the lack of state regulation over vasectomies."
Virginia quickly trashed one bill proposed by Democratic State Senator Janet Howell, which according to NPR, “would have required a man to get a digital rectal exam and cardiac stress test before getting a prescription for an erectile-dysfunction drug.”
This was proposed in response to the controversial bill that would have required that women seeking abortions submit to a vaginal ultrasound.
A male dominated government is never going to pass legislation that prevents guys from getting laid (at least heterosexually laid), but it’s great to see female legislators shining a light on the gross overreach that these same men continue to make into the lives (and vaginas) of women.
Keep it up ladies—and maybe guys will be allowed to get it up and “keep it up” as well!

Maybe that is not the reason the ladies suggested those bills , But it is the reason why I'm actually for them , And I think a lot of people working in the health system will agree with me .....
