We kid (kinda). But seriously, Tyler Perry is reportedly about to start production on a film that likely meets the diva needs of more than half of the gays out there. At the premiere for his latest film, Why Did I Get Married, Too?, Perry confirmed to AOL Black Voiced (who knew?) that he has signed Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Phylicia Rashad to the same movie!
Holy gay hell!
For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf is slated to begin filming this summer with those four fabulous women in addition to Loretta Devine, Macy Gray and Kimberly Elise. The film is based off the 1975 play of the same name, which consisted of a series of poems read by different women speaking to subjects of rape, abortion, love, sex and more.
"Ntozake Shange’s play is a magnificent tribute to the strength and dignity of women of color, and I think audiences of all generations will be able to recognize and embrace the experiences these women represent. Creatively, this movie is one of the most exciting undertakings of my career,” Perry told AOL.
Well color us intrigued! This sounds like it has all the makings to be emotional amazement. The film is expected to get an early 2011 release.
