Boy goes out to a bar. Boy meets boy. Boy takes boy home. Boy gets drugged and robbed.

What?!

There’s been an alarming increase in this specific scenario in San Francisco’s Castro district.

Details after the jump!

SF Weekly’s “The Snitch” reports that according to Sgt. Chuck Limbert, the LGBT liaison for the Mission district, straight men are targeting older gay men in bars, managing to seduce them into taking them home and then robbing them blind.

We’re pretty sure we’ve seen this porn minus the robbery. Actually, maybe with the robbery too. There are so many.

Anyway, Limbert explains that “one victim recently called to report an incident where he was drinking at a Castro bar when a really good-looking man walked in and bought him a drink…
[The victim] said he wasn't making good decisions, that his vision was blurry and he didn't know what was going on. The two went to the victim's apartment, where he started vomiting. When he came out of the bathroom, the suspect grabbed the man's computer and demanded the victim's password. When the man refused to give it to him, the suspect hit him, and the victim ran out of the apartment, screaming.”

Other victims have reported similar instances where they were approached in a bar, only to later pass out in their homes and wake up with their wallets and credit cards stolen.

Limbert suggests that bar patrons should be more cautious regarding whom they take home; he even encourages people to ask to see an ID.

We’d also encourage people to watch their drinks.

This sort of thing is more than likely not isolated to San Francisco. As Limbert mentions, people are probably just ashamed to report it.

What do you think, Instincters? Is this a more prevalent problem than we realize? (And are we sure it’s just “straight” guys pulling these kinds of scams?)
