The Superior Court of D.C. has ruled that "ex-gays" be included in the district's sexual orientation laws. The case is largely-believed to be precedent-setting, meaning that those "cured" of the gay will likely march alongside us in our pursuit of equality.

As we struggle for legal recognition ourselves, we don't have much room to argue, do we?

I'm not sure I quite understand. As an "ex" gay, I assume that they find 'fault' with homosexuality and thus wouldn't support it... I'm confused

They're basically in the nether regions of sexuality. They don't quite fit in with the straights (because I believe there is no such thing as an ex-gay), and they've ostracized themselves from the gays out of internalized homophobia. So, us being a rainbow flag of inclusion, they want to be thrown in with the protections we've fought for.

Why are they going to march alongside us if they Are "cured" of the gay?

Because they want to be a separate identity, but still reap the benefits of LGBT rights laws.

Oh, and I used the term "march" in the symbolic sense of the word, not meant literally.

Absolutely not! If they fought so hard to "cure themselves" of being gay, they shouldn't benefit from the protected-class status of the community.

Does this mean we have to add another letter to our acronym: GLBTQX?
It's beginning to look like Vanna White had an aneurysm and didn't know how to buy a vowel.

Don't let Ashley Love see this post. Please. PLEASE! It'll be something like, "Our community deserves to include the X in GLBTXYZHIJKLMNOP. While I am glad Instinct is bringing awareness to the issue of ex-gays, I disagree with everything else that they have written. Thank you. I'm Ashley Love."
