One of the most noted civil rights speeches ever started with a dream, so it's rather poetic that Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton's hopes of defeating an amendment looking to ban marriage equality in his state followed sleep-inspired suit.
Speaking in front of a crowd of marriage equality supporters, Gov. Dayton said:
“Any American should be able to love the person he or she loves. And that should be a right protected by the Minnesota Constitution and by the United States Constitution.”
“But I had a dream over the weekend. And we'll see how prophetic my dream is. I dreamt that … Minnesota would be the first state in the nation to reject this kind of measure. I think Minnesota's better than that.”
As Dayton hints, if his prophecy holds true, Minnesota would become the first state to reject an amendment banning marriage equality.
