Harvey Milk Bust to Be Installed in SF City Hall PDF Print
Written by Alex Cho | Monday, 12 May 2008

If you've been following this blog, you know that we've written a few times on the upcoming Harvey Milk biopic, directed by Gus Van Sant. (I'm totally excited for it - Sean Penn plays Milk and uber-sexy James Franco plays his lover. It's gonna be an Oscar contender, for sure.) Newly-minted Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch will play gay rights activist Cleve Jones.

San Francisco City Hall will unveil a bust of Milk - the first prominent openly gay politician in the US - on May 22, his birthday. He would have been 78.

In case you don't know, Milk was on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors when a fellow Boardmember, Dan White, assassinated him and San Francisco mayor George Moscone in 1978.

If you are in SF, the unveiling will be open to the public.

I'll be visiting San Fran three days before the unveiling. Figures I'd miss out on something wonderful like this. Grrr.
