It looks like NBC's Smash just snagged their very own Dreamgirl!

TVLine reports that Oscar and Grammy winning superstar, Jennifer Hudson has signed on for a multiple episode arc in season two!

More after the jump!

According to TVLine, "She’ll play Veronica, a Tony-winning Broadway star who impacts the lives of Karen (Katharine McPhee) and Ivy (Megan Hilty)."

We're PRAYING for a diva throwdown between Veronica and Ivy (but with belting because they're classy Broadway broads)!

NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt says, “We’re thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to Smash. This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it.”

Steven Spielberg, Smash's executive producer, says: “I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC.”

Look for J-Hud on the season two premiere of Smash, scheduled for early 2013!

Are you excited, Instincters? Will Jennifer Hudson add an Emmy to her crowded trophy case?

WTF? 2013? Why not the fall of 2012? Viewers will loose interest if we have to wait that long. And then Jen will have to sing I'm Not Going!

NBC RUINED SMASH!

Josh Safran is a JOKE! He is a hotel heir, the Paris Hilton of TV writers… He bought his way into the Gossip Girl writers’ room and ruined that show and now he is going to ruin Smash. He has no experience on Broadway or Theater. How could NBC fired a well renowned/ Pulitzer Prize finalist playwright: Theresa Rebeck and hire such a hack writer? Josh Safran is going to ruin the show.

NBC and Robert Greenblatt do not care about quality programming, they are going to turn Smash into a crappy soap opera. No wonder they are in 5th place in the ratings.

Furthermore, how far is NBC president Robert Greenblatt's head up Steven Spielberg's ass?
