Jimmy Carter calls out the modern-day Christian crusade against LGBT community in a new interview with Huffpo. Details follow.

In an interview promoting his new book NIV Lessons from Life Bible: Personal Reflections with Jimmy Carter, the former president reminds Christians that Jesus was not a homophobe.

Said Carter:

“Homosexuality was well known in the ancient world, well before Christ was born and Jesus never said a word about homosexuality. So if a local Baptist church wants to accept gay members on an equal basis, which my church does by the way, then that is fine. If a church decides not to, then government laws shouldn’t require them to.”

If religion was based on facts Jimmy it would be called science. No amount of facts will persuade someone when "belief" will uphold their prejudice and bigotry. :-(
