TV megachurch pastor Joel Osteen reiterated his belief that gays are sinners during an appearance on Fox News yesterday with Chris Wallace. But, hey, he thinks we're some of the "nicest people in the world," so there's that! Thanks for throwing us a bone, Joel!

(Video and transcript follow.)

"I believe the Scripture says that being gay is a sin. But, you know, every time I say that, Chris, I get people say, well, you are a gay hater and you're a gay basher. I'm not. I don't -- I don't dislike anybody. Gays are some of the nicest, kindest, most loving people in the world. But my faith is based on what I believe the Scripture says and that's the way I read the Scripture. I think we should discriminate against anybody. So, I think -- yes, I don't think there is an issue where somebody couldn't go visit a gay loved one in the hospital. I don't think that's right. They love each other. So, I think there should be some. I'm not for gay marriage, but I'm not for discriminating against people."

Since I was created gay by God, and He never makes mistakes, how could my being gay possibly be a sin?

WOW!! i can't believe some of the comments on here, I have read a couple of books by Joel, I have him on my FB page. By NO means did i take offense to what he said, Yes I am a lesbian and NO i was not offended. HE stated that was how he reads the scripture that is what he believes. He also stated he believed everyone should have the same rights, but did not agree with gay marriage. I'M OK WITH THAT. by NO Means did i feel he was bashing gays. I love what he has to say and I will continue to listen to his words. I will not judge him because of his beliefs on this subject. I was raised Southern Baptist, NOW come on a lesbian, some of my family does not agree with my life style but they respect it. Just as I will respect them and anyone else who does not agree with my life style but can accept me as a person.

Pastor Marc, you just "cleared up" everything! Thank God I'm gay, and thank you, pastor, for making me realize that! Even though I don't agree with anything you said, you still sound like you are a really nice person.

Marc, wow, what about the scriptures about judging others? Jesus specifically said we are not to do that "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" "Judge not lest thee be judged the same". Too many "ragging christians" forget that the bible is a two edged sword and that they must examine their own lives, not others.

i agree with Melina ya'll he was just speaking from the bible in wich he belives is to be true. writing rude comments isn't going to change anything or make us any better than him, besides Kirk Cammeron said MUCH worse! however it wasn't right for him to single us out like that, everyone in the world is a sinner.
