Though it seems Lady Gaga was able to push Target toward a policy change, the business relationship between the two is now off, marketing sources close to the deal have reported. Allegedly, the two can't see eye-to-eye when it comes to political donations, an unfortunate trait of the relationship that lead Lady Gaga to abandon Target.

From Metro Weekly:

Bob Witeck of Witeck-Combs Communications was familiar with the dissolved deal, although he does not represent Gaga or any of the parties, and told Metro Weekly, "Despite the expectation that this was all unfolding as a deal, it has been in a sensitive stage of continued discussion for probably the last three weeks."

He added, "Quite a few people, even early on, were afraid it was going to dissolve."

All Lady Gaga wanted was for Target to not blatantly donate to homophobic political organizations, and Target couldn't get on board? Sheesh. Well at least we know who are real supporters are. Bub sums it up quite nicely:

"Throughout this whole process, she has remained true to her audience. I think she's a person of great integrity, and I think people will recognize that."

I don't think this speaks to her integrity. If she had any integrity she wouldn't have worked with them in the first place, or she would have continued her partnership and did what SHE wanted. Instead she and her puppet masters decided to g...ive in to pressure from the gay community. Though I think it is a good thing that she ended her deal with Target, I mostly feel that she shouldn't have had a deal with them in the first place.

Also, I'm really tired of this un-original, copy-cat bitch exploiting gay people and our struggle for equality for her own success.

@ Timothy: By everyone you mean the estimated 8.8 million gays in the US all know about this deal? I certainly knew nothing about it. I was more concerned yesterday with the massive fish die-off in Redondo Beach yesterday and what it could mean environmentally. But then again I am one of the few gays who does not live his life around everything Lady GaGa says and does. I actually have a life and mind of my own.

Instinct, you guys have no idea what she was asking of Target, and neither do we. Maybe she wanted them to support pro-gay candidates who, while unrelated issues, also supported anti-business issues. We have no idea. Target is a business, don't forget that, and Lady Gaga's CD is only a fraction of a small portion of their business. Even if they lost the entire gay dollar, which they won't because most don't know, and others that do know like me don't care, it's still such a small impact overall. Gays need to get over themselves. Change will happen, it's happening now, but it won't happen overnight.
