The Human Rights Campaign's titanic week-long release of the National Organization for Marriage's internal documents continues today with a leak that tackles Mitt Romney.
HRC released on Friday afternoon a document revealing a $10,000 donation made to NOM in 2008 by Mitt Romney's Free & Strong America PAC—a time frame that leads many to believe the donation directly contributed to Prop 8's passage in California.
The HRC is asking folks to sign a letter that will be sent to Mitt, reading:
In 2008, your Free and Strong America PAC donated $10,000 to the National Organization for Marriage. Just last year, you signed a NOM-sponsored pledge to ban marriage equality nationwide.
The Human Rights Campaign recently uncovered secret NOM memos detailing a strategy to "drive a wedge between gays and blacks" and manipulate the Latino community.
I am writing to ask you to disavow this chilling strategy and your relationship with this fringe group.
Additionally, to right this wrong, I ask that you make an equivalent contribution to a group that works to improve race relations in this country.
Today's leak amplifies a week of calls on Romney to disavow his association with the anti-gay hate group.
