Sure, Magic Mike will likely leave us humming all weekend after it opens on Friday. But is the best movie of all time ever in history ever enough to have us singing an entire original soundtrack? Reid Carolin, Magic Mike's screenwriter, thinks so and has started plans to parlay the film to Broadway.
Just as Cher's musical news yesterday shut down the office for a few good hours of hysterical sobbing, today's news about an INTERACTIVE Magic Mike musical taking over Broadway has us planning our bachelor party years in advance.
"We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story," said Carolin. "I'm almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it's the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show."
The perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway? Seems like Reid is forgetting something. But we can overlook that major oversight if he actually gets Alex Pettyfer to dance in our laps on 42nd Street.
Speaking of Pettyfer, the actor told reporters on the red carpet at the premier that he would "absolutely" do the Broadway musical version. "I think we should all do the opening night."
We do too, Alex. We do too.
