While news out of Minnesota is bleak, it appears that the fight for equality is steaming straight ahead in Washington state!

Polls are showing that 56 percent of Washington voters are now in favor of marriage equality, which is an extremely promising sign for the state's voter referendum in November.

More after the jump.

According to Think Progress, "SurveyUSA poll shows support for Referendum 74, the ballot referendum on Washington’s marriage equality law, is surging with 56 percent approval and only 38 percent rejection.

This is a significant bump from the 50 percent support SurveyUSA found just two months ago. Public Policy Polling found in June that 51 percent were prepared to vote for the measure — the first time that number crossed the 50 percent threshold. The campaign supporting Referendum 74 has received immense corporate supportout-fundraising opponents 20-to-1, and the resulting messaging strategy seems to be working."

Support for marriage equality continues to grow in the state. If we keep pushing, we may see marriage equality passed by voters for the first time in Washington and Maryland!
