Mary Cheney, daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, married her longtime partner Heather Poe today in Washington, D.C.

Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne released the following statement: "Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized. Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness."
Mary and Heather have two children together: 5-year-old son,Samuel and 2-year-old daughter, Sarah. The family lives in Virginia.
Congrats to the newlyweds! Here's hoping their lawful union changes a few hearts and minds.
