The men of Microsoft are reaching into their wallets in support of marriage equality.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and CEO Steve Ballmer are each donating $100,000 to support the campaign to uphold Washington state's same-sex marriage law.
More after the jump.
Gov. Chris Gregoire signed same-sex marriage legislation in February, but it will be up for a referendum vote in November.
The Associated Press spoke with Zach Silk, campaign manager for Washington United for Marriage. According to Silk, Gate and Ballmer provided checks on Friday and they are being reported to the state Public Disclosure Commission this afternoon.
Microsoft has been vocal supporter of same-sex marriage. They joined other Washington companies in the urging the State Legislature to pass the same-sex marriage bill.
Microsoft also joined 70 major companies nationwide in November, when they submitted a friend-of-the-court brief in support of a challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
