Now this is a pleasant surprise! Maybe we shouldn’t be shocked, but we definitely are.

Norwich University, the oldest private military college in the United States, will be celebrating their first gay pride week!

More after the jump!

In the wake of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’s repeal—Norwich is truly embracing equality and diversity in ways that many may not have anticipated.

From today, March 26 to March 31, Norwich University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Allies club (NULGBTQA), which was founded Sept. 20, 2011—the day DADT was repealed, will host pride events with celebrations or issue discussions.

They’re even having a Queer Prom on Saturday, y’all!!  (Can we go?! We love men in uniform and we’re cheap dates. The cheap date part is a lie, but presumably there's an open bar, right?)

NULGBTQA President, Joshua Fontanez (our new boyfriend) says, "The repeal [of Don't Ask, Don't Tell] is bringing a new wave of equality, a new wave of rights that so many generations have been waiting for."

We're loving this. Do you think we'll be able to find dates at West Point and the Citadel too? Maybe the Naval Academy...
