GOP 2012 hopeful Mitt Romney, Mr. Walking Contradiction himself, appeared on Piers Morgan's CNN show last night to make no sense whatsoever when discussing marriage equality and anti-gay discrimination. More after the jump.
"I oppose same sex marriage. At the same time I would advance the efforts not to discriminate against people who are gay."
The inconsistencies don't stop there.
"I separate quite distinctly matters of personal faith from the leadership one has in a political sense," Mitt told Piers. "You don't begin to apply the doctrines of a religion to responsibility for guiding a nation or guiding a state."
Grab as much free lube packets at this month's Pride festivities as possible, darlings. It'll be a long year and a half of strenuous eye-rolling (its less-straining with slicker sockets) if this interview is any indication.
Living in many western cities with large and influential Mormon populations, I can see in many Mormons what Romney says. Only the most liberal ones are for gay marriage, but it is hard to find Mormons who are against gay rights regarding housing, employment, etc. Most Mormons I know are for civil unions, but not marriage. They are against bullying of gay people, as there are many gay kids who grow up Mormon and the leaders and parents tell their children to include and love them. If you live amongst Mormons, it is easier to understand Romney's statements.

Mormons seems to be for all rights for gays and lesbians except for the actual term marriage.
