Just another example of how one person can begin to change the actual or perceived social terrain of places outside major metropolitan areas. Details of Shane Vannatta's ascension to become Montana State Bar Association's first openly gay president after the jump.

On Sept. 15, Shane Vannatta, a Missoula lawyer specializing in Business Law was inducted as the President of the Montana State Bar Association. From Eternity To Here notes that Vannatta, born, raised and educated in Montana, has a heart for community service and pro bono work.

“I’m really looking forward to doing good things,” Vannatta said.

From Eternity To Here also adds that Shane has been with his partner for 15 years and his success and happiness, "couldn’t happen to a better guy." Adding that "Shane’s election is one more reason LGBTQ kids don’t have to leave Montana to lead safe and successful lives."

Hear ye, hear ye! Congrats to Shane, his partner and Montana!

Thank you! I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I one of hundreds of individuals who happen to be gay/lesbian in Montana doing what they can to make life better for everyone. It's called getting up, going to work, doing a good job, and going home to the one you love.

REDO to correct grammar: Thank you! I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I am one of hundreds of individuals who happen to be gay/lesbian in Montana doing what they can to make life better for everyone. It's called getting up, going to work, doing a good job, and going home to the one you love. The one I love happens to be the same sex as me.
