We're really excited for tonight's premiere of the ambitious new time-travel, cop-comedy series, Squad 85, brought to us by out, gay multi-hyphenate (writer-director-actor-hottie) Gregory Bonsignore.
Think 21 Jump Street meets Back To The Future, but with Willam Belli and Margaret Cho making appearances. We're basically committed to the entire series run based on the guest spots alone.
Squad 85's Executive Producer is Justin Lin (Fast Five) and the series has a home on Lin's YouTube network, YOMYOMF.
According to the show's press release: “In 1985, the Los Angeles Police Department Experimented with a secret time-travel division, catapulting four of LA’s finest, twenty-five years into the future. That future… Is Now!”Into today’s tired world of lab work, warrants, and white-gloved crime scene investigations, bust an elite, twenty-something, mixed-race team of police who only know to kick down doors and ask questions later."
With a white male police chief in deep cover as a trangender Asian female, a macho 1980's cop coming to terms with his homosexuality in 2012, and a cast filled with out and proud LGBT performers, we think the team behind Squad 85 have something unique (and perhaps totally irreverent and politically incorrect) on their hands.
We can't wait to watch!
Check out Episode 1 of Squad 85here tonight at 8 p.m. EST!
