Very cool news!

The Pentagon has announced plans to celebrate LGBT Pride month!

Quite the turnaround from last June when an openly gay soldier could lose their job (and 13,000 gay soldier did over the course of DADT).

More after the jump!

The Associated Press reports, "Officials said Thursday that they're planning the first-ever event to recognize  gay and lesbian troops. They declined to give details about what the event will be, but officials said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta feels it's important to  recognize the service of gays in the armed forces."

The Pentagon intends to celebrate gay and lesbian servicemembers just as it honors racial or ethnic groups.

Well done, Secretary Panetta! It's great to see military higher-ups embracing ALL of our servicemembers.

Our gay and lesbian members of the military are serving our country and deserve to be honored for it.
