Porn Star Josh Weston Dies At Age 39 PDF Print

It's been a rough year for a porn community and fans who are once again receiving sad news about the death of a cherished actor. Josh Weston, age 39, has passed away due to complications related to HIV. 

The Sword (link NSFW) reports:

The gay porn legend who worked exclusively for Falcon Studios before appearing in features for Hot House, Colt, and C1R has died.

Though a cause of death has not been officially released, both Falcon and Hot House confirmed his passing this morning. Weston, 39, signed with Falcon in 2001 and went on to star in their biggest titles of the decade (Deep South, Heaven To Hell, Taking Flight). Weston began his career as a dancer at the Nob Hill Theatre in San Francisco, and after being discovered there by Chi Chi LaRue, he quickly became one of the decade’s most iconic performers.

Weston’s later work with several bareback studios was seen by some as controversial, but his flawless physique and legendary performances are what, I think, will be remembered most.

Performers Erik Rhodes, Adam Faust, Sean from Corbin Fisher and Roman Ragazzi all passed away this year as well.

I too subscribe to INSTINCT because it is a motivating and positive mag, and also because it doesn't resort to the trash in pornographic-like magazines. I've never heard of Josh Weston. His death shouldn't be shunned - no matter his association.

I too subscribe to Instinct, disgusted, and think you have some serious issues you might want to see a shrink about. Why would the gay community want to shun a well-known sweet man that meant a lot to a substantial portion of the readership? Thank you for reporting this sad news Instinct and not being too afraid of tools like disgusted to share the heartbreaking news.

I'm "digusted" by the insouciance of some people, and especially by some in our community. So quick to judge others. Isn't that what we are fighting against in the mainstream? And to "who cares", we all should care. Those of you making negative remarks, get off your high horse and join the rest of us who are honest about the fact that porn is an intrinsic part of gay culture...whether you admit it to others (or yourself) or not. There is an important underlying story that is part of the unfortunate story of this man's death. That is that even though there is a complacency to HIV these days due to being able to prolong lives, people are still dying from complications from it or the meds. That's an important realization that must be communicated. I wouldn't have necessarily known who Josh Weston was, but I'm sorry to hear that we've lost another due to this disease. Thank you Instinct for keeping us informed, to all degrees.

To romanticize the deaths and ignore the causes is no less diminishing than short-handing an obituary as porn news. From Joey Stefano on, I've lost count of the number of "young, handsome, sweet" men" whose obituaries have included the words "drugs" [and "HIV" and "Chi Chi LaRue."] Seriously, somebody should do a word search on that.

I know first hand that Chi Chi LaRue's porn shoots are fueled by party drugs. A young man dies, what does Chi Chi care? Ten more are lined up to take his place, younger and prettier and willing to take less money. I don't believe Chi Chi's sets are unique.

Why isn't INSTINCT looking into THAT story? Instead, someone will lift up that odd healthy porn performer instead of looking at the dozens and dozens of deaths and lives destroyed by the industry.

Very few of these boys get outta this industry in one piece. So sorry to hear of the passing of Josh Weston. Porn is only a gangplank to prostitution and you aren't going to beat the odds in that game. Think long and hard before jumping into to this whirlpool the results mostly end in disaster. Porn starring isn't the answer.

To anybody who keeps attacking Instinct for not thinking this is a serious story I would ask the following...

What did he die of? AIDS complications. By himself you would think maybe he wasn't taking medications, but the death just recently of 40 year old Gay activist who help write the drug testing protocols of AIDS would seem to indicate that people who think this epidemic is under control may be folling themselves. People taking medications are still apparently dying. Sounds like a serious story.

If some people not taking seriously their lives then they shouldn't expect from the rest of us to sympathise for their loss. As we know most of the people who have the HIV virus do BB sex, long Chem sessions etc... Complications related to HIV is the easy excuse of 'too many chems effected probably his fragile heart or whatever...' None forced them to do bb sessions and gang bangs and none forced them to use any drugs... recently i have been dumped by someone who was HIV+ because he wanted to fuck around on chems and BB with strangers... in some way better for his and the rest of irresponsible losses to clean up from moving diseases...

I just heard about Josh Weston. I only knew him through his career in the movies and the media. I am and will always be one of his biggest fans and greatest admirers. I am sad he is no longer with us and even more sad I never got to meet him or see him in person.

Josh...Rest In Peace. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends.
