After a month that put the ascot industry in the red from a lack of free advertising, CNN has lifted controversial commentator Roland Martin's suspension. Details follow.
CNN contributor Roland Martin was suspended from the airwaves after making comments perceived as endorsements of violence against gay men on Twitter in early February. An intense campaign from GLAAD ensued shortly after Roland's Tweets that resulted in a national controversy and a rehabilitation program of sorts for the embattled commentator.
This week, however, it seems that the powers that be have decided Roland has atoned enough for his sins as a CNN spokesperson confirmed the contributor's suspension has ended.
GLAAD, on the other hand, is murkier about Roland's progress. "We're still working out details on what the next steps are with him and CNN," the org's spokesman Rich Ferraro said late Monday. According to GLAAD, Martin met with the group on February 14 for 90 minutes in what was said to be the start of a long and open dialogue.
Did CNN welcome Roland back too soon or was a month long enough?
