By a nearly unanimous vote on Wednesday, lawmakers in St. Petersburg, Russia moved forward with heinous legislation that criminalizes discussing the LGBT community, rights, or anything gay-related with minors.

The bill will impose a fine of up to $1,600 for anyone who is found participating in "public actions aimed at propaganda of pederasty, lesbianism, bisexuality, and transgenderism among minors.”

Notable Russian gay activist Nikolai Alexeyev called the legislation a disgrace, saying, the anti-gay bill is being used as “the main legal reason to deny any public actions by the LGBT community," such as Pride gatherings.

If the tentatively-approved legislation is fully-enacted as expected, it will put LGBT activists in St. Petersburg in the same criminal category as pedophiles.

"public actions aimed at propaganda of pederasty, lesbianism, bisexuality, and transgenderism among minors.”

Wouldn't this also curb anti-gay speech as well? I mean propaganda can go either way.
