Last week's decision by the Abbey—located in West Hollywood but considered to be the "best gay bar in the world"—to ban bachelorette parties ignited quite the comment discussion on this here blog. To help convince and soothe those critical of the policy change (and believe us, there were plenty), owner David Cooley appeared on CNN and explained his move.
When asked how his decision to ban bachelorette parties is not discrimination, Cooley replied, "It's great to see my straight women coming in and celebrating with their girlfriends...As I kept seeing this, it was hurtful to me being gay, as well as my clientele, that we could not have that same type of a celebration."
