Wearemoviegeeks.com reported that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s presentation of The Muppets’ star today was also a celebration of the release of Disney’s The Muppets on Blu-ray and DVD.
Chamber President and CEO Leron Gubler emceed the event. Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios also made an appearance, along with Lisa Henson, Jim Henson’s daughter and CEO of The Jim Henson Company.
“Thanks to creative genius Jim Henson and these extraordinary puppeteers, the Muppets are truly worldwide icons and Hollywood stars,” said Ross. “They are a treasured part of the Disney family, and we’re thrilled to see them join so many other luminaries on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
Other muppets joining Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy for the event were Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Pepe, Sweetums, and Walter, who made his debut in Disney’s 2011 film.
The Muppets’ star, located in front of Dinsey’s historic El Capitan Theatre, is the 2,466th star on the Walk of Fame. Along with the usual crew of real life celebrities, The Muppets also join the rankings of quite a few characters to get this honor, including Big Bird, Bugs Bunny, Shrek, and Godzilla.
