In the foot cleat steps of the NFL and MLB, the NBA has announced that it will officially protect gay players from discrimination based on their sexual orientation. Details follow.

The past few months have seen the NFL and MLB update the non-discrimination policies in their respective collective bargaining agreements, and today, the NBA joins the evolution.

"I am pleased to announce that we have concluded the collective bargaining process and have reached an agreement that addresses many significant issues that were challenges to our league,” NBA Commissioner David Stern said.

“This collective bargaining agreement will help us move toward a better business model, a more competitive league and better alignment between compensation and performance.”
