It's a publicist's job to tip-toe the line of controversy for their clients. But gay friendly PR firm Fleishman-Hillard has been working overtime to make Tuesday's big news from the Boy Scouts of America seem less hate-y while not sacrificing its own integrity and morals. Tricky!
So, what does the Boy Scouts' very pro-LGBT PR firm have to say about the organization's continued allegiance to anti-gay discrimination?
Well—suprise, surprise—the statement released today by Fleishman-Hillard is gold star worthy & publicist-approved:
Fleishman-Hillard is an inclusive company that values and encourages diversity and treats all of our employees equally without regard to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
We work with a wide variety of organizations that have differing views on societal issues. We provide each of them with our best communications counsel. We do not agree with every client on every issue, and we do not expect them to agree with us on every issue.
While our policies and perspectives differ on this subject, we support the Boy Scouts of America’s vision of preparing American youth to become responsible citizens and leaders, and we work with them on communications programs to support this vision.
Fleishman-Hillard even hosts an LGBT communications blog penned by its gay associates titled OutFront. Yep, they're that gay.
Can any solace be found in the notion that some of the BSA's money is going to an ardently pro-LGBT company?
