We've spent years studying, but despite our studious efforts and long nights of homowork, we never learned why the penis has evolved to take on its distinct shape. Jesse Bering, author of Why Is The Penis Shaped Like That?, finally enlightens us to evolution's sexiest secret in a new episode of BeastTV.

So, why is the penis shaped like that?

The more you know...

Thanks, Jesse! Now we can get back to studying hard!

It's interesting that, the refractory period is virtually non-existent if a (straight) male has an opportunity to mate with a *different* female. There's a story about one of our presidents -- I think it was Hoover. He and his wife were visiting a chicken farm. The First Lady witnessed a rooster mating with a hen; the conversation with the farmer went something like this: First Lady: "How many times a day does a rooster mate?" Farmer: "Oh, many times." First Lady: "Please inform the President." So the farmer dutifully tells the President, who then says, "Different hen every time?" Farmer: "Of course." President: "Please inform the First Lady."

What's ALSO interesting is that if a (straight), male witnesses the female he just mated with having sex with another male, he's ready to go again without a refractory period. It answers the question of what ever could be the allure to straight guys of the 2 guy, 1 woman threesome.
