Mark Zuckerberg!
Though it feels like Facebook permeated the cultural conversation years ago and nothing exceedingly new happened in 2010 with the world's largest social network (aside from some appearance tweaks and PR nightmares regarding personal data), Time Magazine has chosen founder Mark Zuckerberg as its person of the year.
The past few days of waiting for the announcement have been agony for folks who care about this sort of thing (which may or may not include me), as the race for the 2010 'Person of the Year' was expected to go to the Wikileaks mastermind, alleged criminal and jail-house recluse Julian Assange. Maybe next year Julian should petition Hollywood to produce a Golden Globe nominated feature film based around his story? That seems to do the trick!
The Chilean Miners, the Tea Party and Hamid Karzai were also in the running for the honor.
