Some transphobic and homophobic car fans have been blasting Toyota across the Internet after clips of a commercial for the new Auris only airing in Japan have hit the web. Check out what all the hubbub is about after the jump!
The first of two spots follows the booty-flashing model around the 2013 Auris while focusing on his feminine traits. Layered both the curves of the model and the new car are graphics that read, "Not in trend. Not Casual. Not for everyone. Not authority, but Auris."
A second, more revealing commercial provides the full identity of the androgynous model, leaving many commenters on car blogs across the world to condemn Toyota and even issue death threats in transphobic tantrums.
Some of the low lights include:
"Fucking shit. It must die."
"damn, I just puke all over my screen, and keyboard"
"Ok, this ads has killed my interest in the car. An officially declared GAY’s car."
"Mannn this low hey?? Come on Toyota you could do better than this!! what wrong using beautiful Japanese girl for this Auris Ads."
"What is seen cannot be unseen…"
Backward bigots aside, a big kudos goes out to Toyota—which usually plays its family friendly brand safe in its marketing—for giving a middle finger to gender norms in the new ad. Also, Stav Strashko, the 19-year old model giving Andrej Pejic a run for his money, is stunning!
My God, he is beautiful. The transphobic/homophobic, insecure, ignorant idiots need to get over themselves. This boy is stunning, and I only hope he reaches Andrej's level of success and more. And good for Toyota for doing something so unexpected and brave. They had to know they'd get backlash, and they did it anyway. Kudos to them.

I am afraid of the consequences for our community. There is nothing wrong with the advert as such, but it plays on a gender issue that is just starting to be accepted by a few groups. It must be noted that I watched the advert at least 5 times and on thinking about it afterwards, I have no idea what car or even color of car was being advertised. My attention was on the model. I am 65 and Post-Op Trans and I was interested in how they portrayed this young person. But I see little in the advert to get me excited about the Trans cause or the Car sales. The advert was well done but badly thought out in my opinion. Sorryand best of luck to the young person involved.

I am disgusted by people's hateful comments. Transphobia is what makes me vomit on my keyboard.

I think it's great to get people questioning indoctrinated gender norms and assumptions and the ad should be applauded for that. But, in the way it was put together I think it also perpetuates the transphobes' fallacious "it's a trap!" ideas that we're out to secretly turn men gay by tricking them into sex with someone they would think of as a man.

A big yes for Toyota for using Stav Strashko he is damn hot & sexy its great that they felt able to use such a person in the add, although not truly a transgendered person he has a feminine face & figure with out breasts but as a male still has his penis & can pull of being female with great dignity. So its a big thumbs up from me

This is great, those hateful comments really bother me, it makes me wonder whether this world will ever advance out of the ignorant state that it's in. Dysgenics is really sounding a lot more plausible when you see bad comments like those, I can imagine why the YouTube comments were disabled.
It also bothers me that the video has more dislikes than likes.
