The Rutgers University student faces 15 counts for spying on his gay roommate who committed suicide last September. Details after the jump.
Dharun Ravi (pictured left), 19, has been indicted on charges including invasion of privacy, bias crimes and evidence and witness tampering, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan. Charges against Molly Wei (right) were not filed.
The grand jury found that Ravi tried to erase evidence that he had secretly viewed Tyler Clementi having sex with another male and invited others to watch.
Clementi's parents commented through their attorney saying that, "The grand jury indictment spells out cold and calculated acts against our son Tyler. … We are eager to have the process move forward for justice in this case and to reinforce the standards of acceptable conduct in our society."
The indictment also states that Ravi targeted Clementi and invaded his privacy knowing that Clementi would be intimidated because of his sexual orientation.
Let the standards be set.
