Lady Gaga herself took a few moments out of her assumedly busy schedule to give a shout out to Cole Goforth, the young teen who was sent home from school for wearing an "I Heart Lady Gay Gay" tee.

Using Twitter, Lady Gaga said:

"Thank u for wearing your tee-shirt proud at school, you make me so proud, at the monsterball, you are an inspiration to us all. I love you. X

"Been in the studio for days and hours of record after record, and when I hear that a little monster was discriminated against* BY TEACHERS.

"It reminds me of my commitment love for u, and the deep unconditional devotion I feel to write music that will liberate you from prejudice.

"I love you cole, you just be yourself. You're perfect the way God made you."

Another day, another school embroiled in a violation of free speech. This time it’s Greenbrier High School in White House, Tennessee that’s under fire for sending home 15-year-old student Cole Goforth after he arrived in class wearing a shirt reading “I Heart Lady Gay Gay.”

From Nashville's NBC affiliate:

Administrators said they stepped in Monday because of a fight that happened the week before.

"We've had a few disruptions the last few days, and we thought the slogan on that shirt would continue to escalate those incidents that had occurred," said Danny Weeks, assistant director of the school board.Cole sees it differently.

"I just think my sexuality isn't widely accepted around here, so of course they are going to single me out," he said.

Perhaps, the school should consider enforcing presumed policy and send home those children that were disrupting the classroom. In my days, if you disrupted the class, you were sent to the principal's office for punishment. What happened to the time when teacher's protected the innocent and punished the guilty.

Pulleeezzee....school is for education, not a sexual orientation parade. No boy would be allowed to walk in with a "I love P----y or C--t shirt...why should this boy be allowed to smear his sexual preferences in the faces of other students? Last week Ellen rewarded some girl a scholarship for not taking her girlfriend to the prom...such as with this GaGa kid...he is looking for something...to be noticed by Lady GaGa, publicity, his five minutes of fame...whatever. Trouble is, he'll smear the name of this school and town and then move on and leave them to live with the defamation while he moves on to another rally.

@Dee
If everyone has to deal with your intolerance and ignorance, then everyone can deal with this boy's simple t-shirt that offends no one.

You know what Dee...you sound like a miserable old hag..and nobody appreciates your nasty and negative presence! Just a little FYI for you...sweetie!! As for Cole....way to go!!! why live in a world of fear...when you can take the "interesting you' and make it a world of success for yourself with great excitement and perhaps even open a few minds along the way. keep it up..you have my support to be yourself...along with many others

I remember when this happened and it was at my school. Christans can wear bible scriptures on their shirts for their anual day celebrating the birth of christ but gay and gay support is a problem? How does that make any since? All i have to say is now i am a senior and i graduate this december so this will be my last April 16th Day of Silence at Greenbrier High School and I plan to go all out this year, usually jsut cross dress but i want to basically be a rainbow this year. Hope this crap doesnt happen again. By the way its still an issue here...the principle, majority of students, and half the teachers are bias... I could share many stories where my sexualty has resulted in disruptive learning because they just wont accept me.
