In The Life, the only national TV program covering LGBT-related social issues, has honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by honoring the gay rights activists who follow in his footsteps. Follow the jump to watch "First Class Citizens," a special In The Life episode that will begin airing across the country on PBS.
For the episode, In The Life taps into interviews with LGBT activists including the Hon. Judge Deborah Batts, former NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, and former National Black Justice Coalition President Keith Boykin.
The YouTube description for In The Life's video reades:
Inspired by Martin Luther King's vision of equality, we look back at how LGBT rights intersect with the broader movement for civil rights in this country. Revisiting the first gay rights protests, the gay men of color who joined the Million Man March and our first openly gay federal judge, we celebrate those who stood up and spoke out for full LGBT equality.
Whenever I hear Dr. Martin Luther, Jr speak his I HAVE A DREAM speach, I always cry!He was SO eloquent and passionate about the black experience in the US! Great man and he deserved the Noble Peace Prize and our country's eternal love and respect!
