We loved director Jeffrey Schwarz powerful, funny, and inspiring documentary, Vito, when we saw it at as the opening night gala presentation at Outfest on July 12!
The doc presents the life of one of the gay rights movement's preeminent activists, Vito Russo. Russo also authored the famed book, The Celluloid Closet, which tracked and archived LGBT presence in cinema to beginning of the artform.
HBO Documentary films is airing Vito this week.

As a member of the Gay Activist Allience and a person who knew Vito Russo , I will say it was a good documentry but it over did it with paying homage to him. In doing so people who had a bigger impact on the movemnet, like Morris Kight or Ron Gold were not mentioned.. Shame on them.
